Matt is passionate about sharing writing tips with students through fun and interactive activities. Students taking part in a session with Matt may find themselves donning a gold jacket and hosting gameshows such as The Word is Right or sitting in front of a classroom, converted into a courtroom, accused of impersonating a teacher!

With 15 years of primary teaching experience, Matt runs engaging sessions that incorporate writing skills students can use to make their writing even better.

You won’t just hear Matt talking about himself during school visits. He wants to be a positive role model to show writing can be enjoyed by everyone.

Matt loves visiting schools and running:

  • writing workshops
  • author talks
  • professional development sessions for teachers and parents
  • Book Week activities
  • book readings

Matt’s first two books were published simultaneously in 2010. He has since published five books in his Crazy Relief Teacher series, a title in the Footy Stars series and there is a picture story book due for release in February 2019.

Matt’s natural tendency to look at the funny side and to always ask ‘what if?’ comes out in his lifestyle and writing. He’s even travelled the Nullarbor to play golf on the world’s longest course! Matt is thorough and meticulous when researching his books; he selflessly hurled dodgeballs at unsuspecting students when writing Mr Sergeant and the Dodgeballs of Doom.

He relishes his time spent on writing, whether it is writing his own books, visiting schools, festivals or writing groups.
